Artisan
Mexican tiles are celebrated for their vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and traditional handcrafting techniques. Artisans who create these tiles use methods passed down through generations, emphasizing both the aesthetic and cultural significance of their work.
They use a specific type of clay and a unique glazing process to create these brightly colored, hand-painted tiles.
Once the tiles are completely dry, they are placed in a kiln for the first firing, called the “bisque firing.” This initial firing typically occurs at a temperature of around 1,850°F (1,000°C). The bisque firing hardens the clay. After painting, the tiles are placed in the kiln for a second firing, known as the “glaze firing.” This firing typically takes place at a higher temperature, around 1,800-2,000°F (980-1,100°C). During this process, the glaze melts and fuses to the tile, creating a glossy, glass-like surface that enhances the vibrancy of the colors and provides durability.

Material: Clay pottery ceramic hand painted with lead free paint, hard glazed at high temp ovens following the tradition of Talavera process.

Packing Details:
– We use a professional packing system for all our shipments, your product will go very well protected with at least 2″ of foam all around, bubble wrapped and when necessary double boxed. Rest assure it will reach you safe and sound. We have a record of minimum broken pieces if any.

We highly recommend you hire an specialist in tiles installation. Talavera Mexican tiles are installed very much as any other ceramic tile, however due to the handcrafted process the look will be more rustic and less perfect, but this is the real beauty of it, you get a very unique decoration nobody else would have.
How do I clean my Mexican Tiles?
Taking care of your talavera tiles is simple, just use a MILD cleanser and water, you will notice they get easily clean. Don’t use abrasive cleansers or bleachers they will eventually damage your tile glaze finish.
How long will it take to have my order delivered?
